Corporate during the past few years are passing through a severe scarcity of skilled staffing not due to non availability but unstability is the major factor contributing towards this. The news of retrenchment itself has become a cause of big panic in the employee lobby which has exposed the fact that the majority at large has a common wish i.e. to be retained within the same employment, peacefully. Non profitability and viability of their employers has equally been the concern of these employees. If Loyalty, Honesty, Sincerity, Trustworthiness are still the strengths of Indian employees then what is the reason behind their "Switch Over" ? What is the key for them to be retained within the organization for a longer peroid, let us have a view on it?


WHERE DOES UNSTABILITY STARTED
:

In late 1980s, awareness of employees has gone up because of various acts passed by central government providing them many rights which were earlier missing. This has again boosted because of various trade unions all over the country fighting for their rights vehemently. It is the time when corporates have become more cordial in their dispositions with their employees and the labour laws, the employees have started feeling more secured due to the best legal practices and strong support from the employee/trade unions. This awareness has removed the fear of losing the job from the common mass.

The shuffling started…


THE PRESENT PRACTICES :


Inspired through this shuffling, the employers have stopped developing their own employees and started absorbing the employees from the competitor organizations having the background of similar experience, roles & responsibilities in their career basket. Outsourcing is not economical, hence they are outsourced at a salary package even higher than what their current employees are drawing.

This has lead to following factors:

* Dissatisfaction in the existing employees for the practices adopted by their employers.
* Frustrations of being low paid employee despite of having shown their loyalty, sincerity towards the organization and its philosophies.
* Absolute dissatisfactions, motivated however with the track and the path shown by the managements only that outsourcing can fetch them a better salary package so look out the ways & means to be outsourced.


People succeeded !! The packages started multiplying !! Sincerity, Loyalty, Respect for the job has lost its significance while the fear of loosing the job did not prevail.

RESULT :

The Employers have stopped imparting training; the Employees have stopped learning. The Employers have continued the outsourcing; The employees are running behind even higher package. Neither the former nor the later could ever realize that the competency per say is deteriorating every day.

Today the ratio of Retirement at the age of 40 and around is maximum because the competency of the employee has remained the same as it was at the time of joining and the packages have reached to the peak.

The existing employer is unable to afford while the competition has stopped offering the job at this package and age.

People are smart enough…understanding the need of the hour some of them have taken a lead and opened the training centers incorporating the modules in the curriculum to develop the skills and knowledge matching the current organizational requirements.

The other kind of a smart group has taken the help of such institutions/centers but people to a mass level did not realize the need of the hour and are struggling due to poor skills, knowledge suitable to the current trend that too in a rapidly changing environment where today & tomorrow makes a big difference. And the development done at the individual level makes a person self dependent which finally helps the person realize of his/her updated strengths and skills, and that motivates him/her to look for better alternatives.

    (PROMOTIONS, STATUS UPLIFTING etc.)

* Training & Development - To meet the newer challenges suitable to the rapidly Changing Enivonment.

CONCLUSION :

The organizations today should rather concentrate on the above needs of their employees than to hire an expensive employee from other sectors, the employer has to invest anyway. The need is to take an initiative in expressing the loyalty in today's scenario where both the partners disbelieve each other. If a person is absorbed from the scratch level and developed to an extent where a person starts contributing to the organizational growth, generates commitment towards the organization. The organization's genuine interest in the individual's career path generates Sincerity & Loyalty in the organization. Apart from the current needs if the employer is able to provide enough care to the future needs of an employee, the scenario will change totally. Remember Retirement benefits are given the last priority hence future benefits should be given considering their personal & family needs (e.g. Marriage Benefits; Parental Care; Child Education; Gifting Shares & Debentures clubbing it with seniority and other developments.)
